BIT HEROES GUIDE

Dungeoning explained:

You'll begin the game with a brief tutorial, showing you how the game works. When you enter a dungeon, you'll be presented with a tile-based layout of hallways with monsters and treasure scattered about. The usual goal is to defeat the boss lurking somewhere within, though sometimes you will need to clear the dungeon of all the enemies. Even after the goal has been met, you can continue to explore the dungeon to fight additional encounters and loot more treasure.

Speaking of treasure, you'll usually find gold coins and common green-tier equipment either on the ground or in a monster's hands. On uncommon occasions, you could happen upon consumable potions or rare blue-tier equipment. On rare occasions, you might find gems or an epic light-red-tier equipment...especially if you happen upon a locked red chest, which can only be opened with a Skeleton Key. These locked chests guarantee an epic tier equipment among other nice things.

(Note: Higher zones will have equipment that's far superior stat-wise compared to the items of earlier zones. However, it may be difficult to progress without getting a decent setup. Use the Skeleton Key at your own discretion.)

Also found in dungeons are the monsters themselves, which can be recruited to join your party as companions. The chance one will join is pretty slim - they have to like you first, and even then you must persuade them with an offering of gold or gems. Once they've accepted, though, they will always be ready to fight alongside you in future adventures. You'll get two companions early on in this manner through the tutorial, which has a scripted result of successful captures on both Batty and Booboo.

Sometimes you may find a red or blue shrine in a dungeon. These shrines are one-time max refills for all living party members (dead party members do not get resurrected). Red shrines fill health whereas blue shrines charge up skill points.

Once in a while you might happen upon a merchant who will offer a rare or epic tier item. If he's selling a rare, it'll cost gold. If he's selling an epic, expect to shell out some gems. You don't have to take the offer if you don't want to (or can't afford to), but knowing what you're getting can be worth the cost to the right person at the right time.

I've heard legends of a peculiar character named Gobby, an exceedingly difficult foe who very rarely appears...but the treasures he holds are said to be great.

Battle features:

During battles, each character takes turns according to their Agility stat - the higher it is, the faster that character's action bar fills. It's quite possible for one speedy character to take several turns before a slower character gets a turn to act.

When any of your characters is ready to act, the game pauses the action bars and displays a selection of that character's skills to use. All characters have a default attack and at least one skill. Skills require a number of skill points to be charged up, which appears to charge at a rate based on the Agility stats of all combatants in the battle (I've yet to figure out exactly what one can expect). Companions each have their own skillset, and the player's skillset is determined by the weapon they wield (higher tier weaponry will have more abilities in their skillsets).

On your turn you may also switch your party order freely using the conveniently labeled Switch button. This is a free action that does not end your turn. While on that subject, you can also switch party order outside of battle by dragging the party slots in the interface.

You may also use consumable potions on your turn in battle, or outside of battle by clicking the party icons in the top left. Note that there is a strict limit of 1 potion per party member during the course of a dungeon adventure, so make it count! (Also note that you cannot use potions in a PvP battle.)

A bit more info about companions:

Each companion has its own quality (common, rare, epic, legendary). The quality sets the baseline for several things, from the recruiting cost and chance to the number of stats and skills.

The three stats are Power, Stamina, and Agility. Power determines your attack damage and heal potency. Stamina determines your health (10 health per Stamina). Agility determines how quickly you are able to take turns (a character with 20 Agility will take twice as many turns as one with 10 Agility).

Monster companions will grow as your main character gets stronger, keeping their stats somewhat relevant. Common companions will have a number of stat points roughly 60% of your main character's total stats. Rares will have about 70%, Epics about 80%, and Legendaries about 90%.

You can capture more than one of the same monster companion, but the only purpose in doing so (currently) is to use two of them in your party. You can stop receiving recruit offers from monsters you've already captured through an option on the settings menu.

Your party is limited to your main character plus two companions. For the small stages and the PvP arena you must rely on those monsters you've recruited to help you win. For the large dungeons found on every fourth stage, however, you may call upon the help of friends and guildmates - using their main characters as your party members.

Equipment:

As of now there's four quality tiers of equipment: Common (green), Rare (blue), and Epic (light red) are all available from any dungeon, whereas the powerful Legendary (yellow) tier of equipment is exclusive to the raid instances (the first raid unlocks upon completion of the third zone). Equipment found from later zones will have much better stats.

You can enhance equipment through crafting upgrades. This process requires some dust and gold, the amounts of which vary by the tier of item being upgraded. Common items require only common dust, whereas Rare items require both common AND rare dust. Epic items require common, rare, AND epic dust. An item can be upgraded multiple times if the item supports it; in general, common items can upgrade once, rare items can upgrade twice, and epic items can upgrade three times as indicated by the boxes shown on the item's icon. Items that drop from equipment chests in the shop will have 1 less potential upgrade, but their starting stats are comparable to a typical item upgraded once - effectively, it's a free upgrade.

Of particular note, epic items (at least those from dungeon loot, not sure about store-bought equipment) have three different upgrade paths when choosing the first upgrade. These all cost the same amount of resources, but produce different stat gains.

Finding the weapon and various armor/jewelry items isn't too difficult. The slots for Accessory and Pet, however, may be more difficult to fill as these do not drop in dungeons. The shop offers some items for those two slots for gems, but you can also get other items to fill these slots through guild shop honor exchanges or achieving high ranks in PvP seasons.
